About Us

Fosi creator Barbara Lees has been skiing since she was a teenager.  She has worked as a ski instructor (more of a hobby) but has a strong business background, having run several small businesses for many years and worked in a variety of business support roles in the higher education sector. "It is only in recent years that I have become more safety conscious.  I am fortunate never to have had a head injury whilst skiing but I am now only too aware of the dangers, having been witness to some nasty accidents.  And of course, we all know the sad story of Natasha Richardson, who may possibly have been alive today if she had been wearing a helmet.  Even so, I am ashamed to say that I only started wearing a helmet a few years ago when, having taken up snowboarding, I was taking painful nose dives far too often!  If I am honest, the main reason I didn't wear one was pure vanity.  I had a selection of stylish hats in which I felt good and found helmets to be most unflattering.  So, faced with the need to wear one, I set about making my helmet more aesthetically pleasing and hence, the Fosi collection was born."

Fosi Originals have a strong policy on animal welfare and therefore all of our products are made from high quality faux fur. We do not support the fur trade in any way and have sourced the best quality faux fur we could find, to give our products a natural fur look without any suffering caused to our furry friends. 

About the Fosi

The Fosi is a simple attachment that fits around almost any helmet; one size fits all.  It doesn't cover the whole helmet so the vents are clear and there is no adverse affect on the safety or functionality.  It comes in a growing variety of materials and colours and has a non-slip lining and two simple fixing points to ensure it stays in place whatever the weather.  We have spent time making sure that the fit and design is just right and we make all of our products in the UK so we can ensure that materials are always durable and of the highest quality.  

We have applied for a patent and Registered Designs to protect both our products and our brand. As far as we are aware, the Fosi is quite unique so we hope you like it!   

Special Editions and One-offs

Do you run a ski club, retail outlet, ski school or ski group? Since we manufacture in the UK, we have the facility to make bespoke products which will set you apart from the crowd.  Imagine being able to spot everyone in your ski school with a distinctive yellow or stripey Fosi on their helmet.  Perhaps your retail outlet would like its own special range, unique to you? If so, give us a call for a quote. 

Our new Fun Collection comes in a range of distinctive colours.  We have decided to limit the numbers of Fosi's made in each colour to create a Limited Edition range which we will regularly update, making your Fun Fosi even more individual to you!   

What about goggles? How do they fit on?

Yes you can still wear your goggles, they look best fitted underneath the band but you can also fit them on after.  You may need to adjust the size slightly to allow for the Fosi but they do still fit.  However, our research (and experience) has found that the majority of women prefer to wear sunglasses when skiing unless the weather is really bad, and as you can see from our photos, the Fosi looks great with a bit of bling!  

We are currently designing a really novel range for kids, something quite different which will appeal to kids' natural sense of fun! As many parents know, it can be very difficult to get kids to wear helmets so by making them cool and fun, we hope the junior Fosi will make them more acceptable.

So far, we have not found an adult helmet that the Fosi won't fit.  However, as we manufacture in the UK, we do have the facility to make 'one-offs' or 'special edition' runs.  If you would like more info on this service, then just call us for details. 

Is the Fosi just for women? What about a men's Fosi?
